Example Problems

Question 1: If a man purchases five $10.31 necklaces and seven $6.31 bracelets, what is the total amount of items he purchased?

  1. Price of Necklaces = $10.31 x 5 = $51.55

  2. Price of Bracelets = $6.31 x 7 = $41.17

  3. Total = Price of Necklaces +Price of Bracelets = $51.55 + $41.17 = Answer: $95.72

Question 2: A basketball player buys 3 new shoes which cost a total of $1702.15, if two of the shoes cost $118.11 and $514.34 what is the price of the last shoe?

  1. Price of First Two Shoes = $118.11 + $514.34 = $632.45

  2. Price of Last Shoe = Total Price - Price of First Two Shoes = $1702.15 - $632.45 = Answer: $1069.70
